cyclical nature of covet, receive, break, lose

Dream- George and I were on a school bus from MICA that was headed to the Blockbuster in Flemington (that has been emptied out in reality) and he looked at me over the tops of the seats but sat down with another girl. I went to the Chinese restaurant next to the video store for some rice, and the woman thanked me for keeping them in business. I guess I was a regular. There was another man, old and dying, crouched in the corner, eating from stacked up plates. I think he was the other regular. I think George walked into the restaurant to find me. I turned away.

I was walking down a dirt road and the light was golden and had the cold breath of Autumn. It was like a storybook. I saw children playing in a small river and leaned over a white bridge to see them better. They were so small, but each had caught a huge fish with their hands. One held up a giant catfish to show me. I turned back to the road but a sofa-sized fish creature was sitting on the bridge, looking at me. I asked if it was going to eat me. Another slid next to it. They told me no, they were on their way to get ice cream. They called it by a Japanese name. I followed them to the kiosk and bought a Winnie the Pooh picture book.
