I can see a group of people walking on a crowded dock by a market. A short man strays from his group and heads into town. He gambles the rest of his money away on the slot machines, but on the last coin he wins the largest sum of money given away in the history of that place. He buys a pearl ring held in a clam-shell box for a woman he is traveling with but who isn't interested in him, and she's annoyed that he wasted his money on her.
I remember this scene from a movie, but I can't remember anything else about it. I've been searching to find it for years. It could have been a dream, because it's turned into a hazy snippet of choppy images, stored away where memories live, and the coloration has turned blue and pearlescent; I can only see the ring and its song that played when it was worn. I'll never find this again.
