 Cat Calls

A man who was missing a few teeth walked by me on the sidewalk.
"Hey pretty lady.  You look so fine, I just wanted to tell you that. So fine. Bye now."
"Thanks."

As I was walking to Rite-Aid during the night a man yelled to me as he drove past, and stopped in the street so I would pass him, walking along the sidewalk.
"Hey girl. Are you alright?" he asked.
"Yes."
"Where are you going after dark?"
"Just to the Rite-Aid. I'll be okay."
I started to walk up to the store when he asked for my name.
"Lucille!" I yelled over my shoulder. I liked the sound of it. He repeated the name a few times.
"Yo girl you got a number I can reach you at?"
"I don't have a phone!"
He laughed, and so did I.

one I remember from New York-

"That girl was so white. She looked good."

"Everywhere I see you, you look nice all the time. All the time."
(The same guy, from across the street)-
"You still look good, girl. Take care babe."

"How are those legs doing? It's cold out."

I've always wondered, what's the point of a cat call?
